HOW TO BE ACCEPTED

This will be a quick guide on what you should do to be accepted. And when I mention accepted, I mean accepted by other people, accepted by your desired circumstances (lifestyle), accepted by your higher self, and above all, accepted by yourself.

QUICK DISCLAIMER: All the information provided down below is all based on my perspective and my experience and should not be considered psychological advice.

Enjoy your reading.

WHY DO WE NEED ACCEPTANCE?

If you are for reading this article for some reason, of course, you might be looking for an answer on how to be accepted, but you might also be asking yourself "why"? And if not, well, you might not be introspective enough, which is completely fine and I might hook you up with that in the future. But for now, you need to understand that for everything, we need to ask ourselves as many questions as possible so we can build the foundations for our motivations.

So moving on, actually answering the question: WHY?
Because it's simply part of our human nature, we naturally crave acceptance, mainly from our external. We do that so we can feel validated, useful, and important, it's what makes us move every single day.

And where there's a moment in our lives where we don't feel accepted, where we most likely think that everything is against us, we tend to immediately start rejecting everything as well, like fighting fire with fire, but we know what that results in, which is... more fire.

We do it so we don't feel the pain of rejection, but in exchange for that, we feel the pain of loneliness. It's a natural reaction, but not always the right answer, especially if you still strive to be accepted.

ACCEPT TO BE ACCEPTED

Now here's where I tell you what we should have in mind if we want to be accepted. As the title implies, we have to ACCEPT to be ACCEPTED, because what we don't understand is that acceptance goes far beyond what you may think.

Understand the concept of duality, that you cannot choose and accept (or be accepted by) one thing if you reject the existence of the opposite. If you're going through some sort of adversity, for example, do not expect to overcome that adversity if you don't accept that you're, well, going through adversity, and the same goes for everything else. Accept your current self, and your current circumstances, and that way you can work better on being accepted in your desired circumstances.

As I was writing this article, I had the coincidence of stumbling upon a quote from a community organizer Saul Alinsky in his book "Rules for Radicals", which summarizes better the idea: “As an organizer I start from where the world is, as it is, not as I would like it to be. That we accept the world as it is does not in any sense weaken our desire to change it into what we believe it should be—it is necessary to begin where the world is if we are going to change it to what we think it should be.”

This was also quoted in the book "The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living" by Ryan Holiday and Stephen Hanselman.

FINAL NOTE

Hopefully, the concept of accepting first before being accepted makes sense to you as much as it does to me. But have the self-awareness of knowing what and when to reject something or someone, that being when we don't like it or doesn't serve us any purpose or value. We don't want to invite any possible threats to our energy.
